Default Spirit Spammer weapon set

So I finally caved in and made a Rit as I wanted to get the survivor title.
So now to close out my HoM I need 3 more weapons (including some combination of torments and oppressor's)

As the scepters and focuses are fairly ugly for both I find myself thinking about doing a spear/shield combo and a staff.

I was wondering what your thoughts were for best mods for the following combos provided I am playing a fairly standard spirit spammer

Staff
Spear/Shield
scepter/focus

I am just not sure if the 10% recharge on skills would outweigh the 20% recharge/cast time possibility for Painful bond (the other 2 skills recharge is already short enough)

Really depends on what you do, where you go.

I like to bring myself as SoS and a dual spirit hero giving me alot of spirits. This means it's not so awefull if they die. So I bring spirits gift and explosive growth and go spam my spirits into a mob, which does quite a bit of AoE dmg and heals the minions aswell. They will get killed faster that way though, and keeps the dmg away from your team. However, you want to be able to spam the spirits alot, so I bring a 20/20 scepter and a 20/20 focus.

If I go regular SoS I use a shield/spear set most of the time, using a +5 +30 spear and a -2ench +30 shield (because I like round numbers ). When energy goes low for some reason, I use a high energy staff, I've never gotten so low in energy I needed a high energy weapon set 30/-2 really.

Just to give you an idea I normally run SoS, 4 spirits and 3 support spells
the things is a 20/20 wont work on spirits as they are binding rituals. They only thing it would effect are your support spells like painful bond, explosive growth, armor of unfeeling, summon spirits, etc...
That is why I am wondering if it is better to go with a martial weapon and a 10% recharge mod.
Just have to weigh that against the possibility of casting painful bond more often.

What happened to weapon switching?

Three weapon sets. Either 40/40 channeling set or 40/20/20 channeling staff. Same option for spawning (for the spirits gift/explosive growth etc spells), and shield of defence with +30 hp, and spear of defence with the spell mod.

Swap as needed, spam weapons under defensive set. If you have the attributes, and unused secondary, spec to meet the shield for extra 8 armor.

I usually don't worry too much about weapon switching. I just use a shield and a 20/20 restoration wand. Usually Spiritleech Aura is the key skill I'd like to recharge faster.

FYI, AoU isn't a spell.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up getting a oppressor staff and tormented spear/shield. I modded with the 10% skill recharge on the spear and and +5 energy staff head on the staff, no inscription yet. Also would like to fine a +1 channeling for the shield but that will be a hard one to get as "master of my domain" won't work

I use a +30hp/+30hp/+5e (hp>50%) staff.

That way I can use 2 superior runes and still have a decent pool of HP. 10/20/40 casting/recharge mods just aren't worth it with how few spells I use when I spirit spam, and for the ones I do use I wouldn't benefit much if they recharged or casted fast. Using 2 superior runes on the other hand makes my spirits significantly tougher and deal more damage, and even with low hp it's really really easy to avoid getting aggro as a spirit spammer.
